Austin Food & Wine Alliance, the beneficiary of the Austin Food & Wine Festival and host of several fundraiser events throughout the year, has opened the application window for its annual grant program.

Now in its fifth year, the grant program gives out $25,000 in total to local nonprofits and food businesses each fall. Past winners have included Confituras, Salt & Time, the culinary arts program at Connally High School and the New Farm Institute at Green Gate Farms.

The organization will be accepting applications from culinary innovators in Central Texas through Nov. 1, and you can apply at austinfoodwinealliance.org/grantapplication. The grant winners will be announced at an event on Dec. 6 at the AT&T Executive Education & Conference Center.

AFWA’s annual Wine & Swine pig roast will take place at Star Hill Ranch on Nov. 20, and tickets for that event will go on sale soon. And since we’re planning ahead, next year’s Austin Food & Wine Festival is scheduled for April 28 to 30, 2017. You’ll remember that this year’s event was rained out.
